Professor Sunday Adebisi set to deliver the Tippie’s Institute for International Business lunch hour lecture.
Professor Sunday A. Adebisi , the recently awarded Distinguished Visiting Scholar of the International Institute of Business (IIB) at the John Pappajohn Entrepreneurship Centre, University of Iowa, USA is set to deliver the Tippie’s Institute for International Business lunch hour lecture titled “The Russia/Ukraine War: Examining Africa in the Eye of the Storm” on Thursday, October 13 from Noon to 1pm at room W401 Pappajohn Business Building.
His conversation will circle around how the rippling effects of the Russia/Ukraine War transcend beyond the borders of the conflicting countries, and what impact is it already having on Sub-Saharan African nations.
He will also provide insights as to how economy of the sub-Saharan African states is not exempted from these waves of devastating economic chaos occasioned by the war in Ukraine. According to him, the impact is felt acutely all across the regions and is vividly captured by the words of one of the Sub-Saharan African leaders, the President of Ghana, Nana Akufo Addo, in his address at the General Assembly of the United Nations, when he said “We are feeling this war directly in our lives in Africa. Every bullet, every bomb, every shell that hit a target in Ukraine hit our pocket and our economy in Africa.” Was this war needed? What has been the implication in Africa? How is Africa coping or should cope? What are the enterprise opportunities in this war for Nigeria & Africa in general?
This oncoming lecture by Professor Sunday Adebisi at the Tippie College of Business’ Institute of International Business will be addressing all these salient questions and also open up an opportunity for further discussions on how this needless war can be addressed.
