The 1stARUA international conference themed “The Deepening Youth Unemployment Crisis in Africa Occasioned by COVID- 19 Pandemic: What Options Available for the Rescue?” received numerous scholarly articles that spoke to the theme of the conference in creative ways that reflected multi-disciplinarity. Abstracts were received for ten tracks namely Understanding the History, Youth Unemployment Crisis, Role of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 2030, Agropreneurship, Innovation and Technopreneurship, Talent Management and Skills Development, Entrepreneurship Areas, Family Business and Gender Entrepreneurship in Africa, Informal and Social Entrepreneurship and Intellectual Property
For every track, the best paper was awarded a certificate and 200 British pounds to support further research by the researchers. While congratulating the award winners, Associate Professor Sunday Adebisi stated that the Centre gave the awards in recognition of papers that stood out in terms of methodology and applicability to the menace of unemployment in Africa.
The ten papers were also earmarked for publication in the Maiden Edition of the Journal of African Employment, Entrepreneurship, and Skills Development. In response, one of the winners, Bukola Amao-Taiwo, a Ph.D. student of the Department of Educational Administration stated that “I am encouraged to engage in further research that will explore the intersection between entrepreneurship and education as a pathway for curbing the unemployment menace, thank you ARUA CoE for Unemployment and Skills Development for the recognition and support”
