Journal of African Employment, Entrepreneurship & Skills Development

JAEESD is the official peer-reviewed journal of the ARUA Centre of Excellence for Unemployment and Skills Development (ARUA-USD, CoE), published at the University of Lagos. It is the flagship publication channel for cutting-edge research on Africa's youth unemployment crisis and evidence-based entrepreneurship interventions.

The journal publishes original research articles, review papers, policy analyses, and case studies across the full spectrum of employment, entrepreneurship, skills development, and economic inclusion — with a specific focus on the African context and actionable policy implications.

We invite original, unpublished research articles from academics across all ARUA member universities and beyond. Submissions are free, peer-reviewed, and published open-access.

    Prepare your manuscriptOriginal research, review papers, policy analyses, or case studies. Must address unemployment, entrepreneurship, or skills development in Africa.

    Format your submissionMicrosoft Word or PDF. Include title, abstract (250 words max), keywords, author bio, and full references in APA format.

    Peer review processAll submissions undergo double-blind peer review by our panel of international academic reviewers.

  • English language submissions preferred
  • Word limit: 5,000–8,000 words (excluding references)
  • Abstract: maximum 250 words with 5 keywords
  • References: APA 7th edition format
  • File format: .docx or .pdf
